On March 2nd, three young survivors of cancer stood before a packed audience at UC Davis hospital in Sacramento and shared their stories. They explained why the work of Teen Cancer America was important to them. Our Executive Director, Simon Davies presented UC Davis CEO, David Lubarsky with a $282,500 check for the development of a new zone for teens and young adults with cancer and some program staff to support them. Simon wrapped up the evening by handing over a guitar signed by our founders Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend that will be displayed in the young people’s zone.
“It is a privilege to be partnering such a prestigious health system as UC Davis in this vitally important initiative. Professor Malogowlowkin and his team are world class. Adolescents and young adults with cancer will benefit from improved outcomes as a result of this essential program that is at the forefront of an emerging specialty,” said Davies. “We are grateful to the UC Davis leadership for having the foresight to join Teen Cancer America’s pioneering movement to transform the treatment landscape for every young person with cancer in the USA.”
