Cancer Survivor Sends Message To Roger For His Birthday

Last year, young survivor Lauren Ramer had a chance to meet Roger Daltrey as she was going into treatment at the Angie Fowler Institute at Rainbow Babies in Cleveland, OH. It was there that Lauren learned to play the Ukulele (which Roger signed) while in treatment at the hospital. On Roger’s Birthday (March 1st) Lauren sent this heartfelt message:

To celebrate your birthday today, I finished my chemo treatment that [I] started back in June. It was exciting to wake up in the hospital for last time, and learn that the work that you guys are doing was featured on The Today Show. It seemed like forever ago that we met in the sunshine on the rooftop garden to bring awareness and play the Uke (Ukulele) together. (I am now home watching a blinding snow storm and my little sister’s dance for school to be canceled!)

I was reflecting on all of the wonderful memories that I had the privilege of making over the past 8 months. We were able to use that space to escape the white coats in order to celebrate Christmas this year. I would enjoy the sunlight and views of nature while playing my Uke during the long treatment weeks. Thank you for supporting teens like me.

I am looking forward to seeing you perform this summer at Cleveland. We bought tickets to go as a family. It will be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of a long hard couple of years.
