Teen Cancer America would like to pay tribute to Stephen Sutton who died yesterday. He was a remarkable force of nature that has done more to raise the issues that young people with cancer face than any one of us could have imagined. Simon Davies, Executive Director of Teen Cancer America who knew Stephen said of him, “He was wise beyond his years and we can all learn from his humility, his passion for the quality of life and his message. His quiet, honest determination to share  his philosophy was truly inspiring.”

Stephen believed that we should not measure our life by its length but by the quality of our contribution to it. His extraordinary ‘thumbs up for Stephen’ campaign raised over 3 million pounds for our UK ‘sister’ charity, Teenage Cancer Trust and touched billions of people all around the world. Roger Daltrey of The Who, Patron of Teenage Cancer Trust and Founder of Teen Cancer America said “Stephen has been a beacon for teenagers with cancer around the world and his short life will have an impact on this issue for many years to come”. We will carry on Stephen’s fight and do our best to bring about changes and improvements for teenagers and young adults with cancer here in the America.
