CHICAGO (Sept. 5, 2017) – The Chicago-based ConAgra Brands Foundation has joined forces with Pete Townshend, guitarist and principal songwriter of The Who, and Teen Cancer America to sponsor Townshend’s “Classic Quadrophenia” stage show at the Rosemont Theatre on Wed., Sept. 13.
The production stars Townshend alongside Billy Idol, Eddie Vedder, Alfie Boe, the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and Chicago Children’s Choir in an extraordinary night of music, part of Townshend’s ongoing efforts to raise money and awareness for TCA, which develops facilities and services for teenagers and young adults with cancer throughout the U.S.
Together with The Who frontman Roger Daltrey, Townshend co-founded TCA in 2012. The national non-profit celebrates its fifth anniversary this month.
“We are thrilled to have ConAgra on board as a presenting sponsor for this special performance,” said Simon Davies, TCA Executive Director. “This type of corporate support is critically important to our mission to improve the standard of care for teens and young adults with cancer.”
“Classic Quadrophenia” is the realization of Townshend’s dream to bring the timeless double album by The Who, which he composed, to the performance stage with full symphonic accompaniment. Townshend selected Chicago as the city to host this very special fundraising performance.
Tickets ($100 – $1,500) can be purchased at the Rosemont Theatre box office, online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000. For more information, call the Rosemont Theatre at 847-671-5100.
About Teen Cancer America
For over 17 years, The Who band members have been patrons of the successful U.K. charity Teenage Cancer Trust. Their efforts have raised millions of dollars through performances and special events. In 2012, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend established Teen Cancer America to replicate their work here in the U.S. Every hour, one young American is diagnosed with cancer. TCA partners with hospitals throughout the United States to provide youth-oriented centers for teenagers and young adults. These units provide peer support and interaction while patients receive treatment at in-patient and out-patient clinics. For more information, visit www.teencanceramerica.org.
