METEDECONK NATIONAL TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL TEEN CANCER AMERICA GOLF OUTING MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2022

Registration Open for a Day of Golf and Rock ‘n Roll to Raise Funds and Awareness for Teens and Young Adults Affected by Cancer

JACKSON, NJ (September 20, 2022) – Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson, NJ will host the second annual Teen Cancer America (TCA) Golf Outing on Monday, October 17, 2022. TCA was founded in 2012 by rock icons Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who. TCA is a national non-profit based in Los Angeles that develops and funds specialized hospital facilities and services for adolescents and young adults with cancer.

Registration is now open for players and sponsors, and foursomes are encouraged to sign up early.

The event will once again be hosted by Metedeconk trustee Bob Lerner. Bob’s brother, Golf Channelpersonality Rich Lerner, will make his second guest appearance as emcee along with six-time LPGA winner Val Skinner, a member of the 1996 winning US Solheim Cup team. Both Rich and Val also are Metedeconk members. Other special guests expected to attend include former New York Giants Super Bowl star Rodney Hampton, rockers Simon Kirke from Bad Company and Britt Lightening from Vixen, Broadway and film star Donnie Kehr, and Ken Freirich together with his band MedROCK, plus other sports and entertainment celebrities.

“I’m thrilled and honored to chair this important charity fundraiser for the second consecutive year at my home club here at Metedeconk,” said Bob Lerner. “As my friends and fellow members know, the Teen Cancer America golf outing is very special to me and my family. As the father of a survivor, I understand the challenges that patients and their families face during treatment. Last year’s inaugural event was a phenomenal success, and I want to thank the Metedeconk membership and staff, along with our many corporate sponsors and the entire local community, for helping us bring this event back for a second straight year.”

The October 17 event includes lunch, a practice session, a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start, cocktails, dinner and some rock ‘n roll. There will be various skills contests, a live auction hosted by Rich Lerner, and other opportunities to win some great prizes, including a $1 million shootout. Players can also participate in a golf clinic and par three event hosted by Val Skinner, who is founder of the Val Skinner Foundation which raises funds to eradicate breast cancer.

“Teen Cancer America is delighted to return for a second year to support this fantastic tournament which delivers world class golf and rock n’ roll,” said Michelle Aland, Director of Development for TCA. “The Lerner family has been working in partnership with TCA for nearly 10 years, starting with the creation of our teen unit at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and now with this popular and much anticipated annual golf event.”

Known for its natural beauty amid rolling terrain, thick forests and quiet marshes in central New Jersey, Metedeconk National was designed by world-renowned golf course architects Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich.
